We are looking for a talented Aftertreatment Modeling Engineer to join our team specializing in Components / Emission Solutions Segment in Stoughton, WI.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Develop and validate appropriate fluid flow, heat transfer and chemical reaction models ranging from 0-D phenomenological models and 1-D system level models to more complex 2-D/3-D CFD models to support aftertreatment system research and product development activities

  • Champion "Analysis Led Design" in evaluation of aftertreatment system performance

  • Interface with internal customers to understand and address their simulation needs

  • Provide timely and efficient analysis support to different Cummins programs by balancing and prioritizing work

  • Collaborate with other analysis team members to support simulation model development, validation, and calibration

  • Work closely with test engineers to obtain test data for model validation and derivation of robust analysis acceptance limits

  • Prepare technical reports and communicate findings to internal and external customers

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Good understanding of principles of fluid mechanics, heat transfer and transport phenomena, demonstrated by applying engineering fundamentals to solve real-life engineering problems.

  • Knowledge of, and skills in, scientific computer programming. Good command over one or more programming languages such as C, C and FORTRAN is required. Ability to productively use one or more simulation packages including system modeling tools such as GT-POWER, AVL-BOOST, MATLAB/SIMULINK and CFD packages such as FLUENT, AVL-FIRE or Star-CCM is desirable.

  • Experience in identifying and quantifying experimental and numerical uncertainties/errors.

  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams to achieve technical solutions within agreed timeframes with moderate supervision.

  • Good oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to critically review academic and commercial research reports

  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams to achieve effective and robust technical solutions within agreed timeframes.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
