Description

We are looking for a talented Electronic Systems Product Specialist to join our team specializing in Cummins Power Systems Business located in Shoreview, MN.

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

This product focused position leads the creation of application specific software for Controls systems used in PSBU-Power Generation Products. People in these positions will define, model, implement, integrate, test, and release software, electronic control units, tools, HMIs, & Product gateways into an electronic system that controls the operation of Cummins’ products in a variety of Power Generation applications.

Uses prescribed and innovative methods, and works with limited guidance. Participates as a team member and actively contributes towards team goals. Carries out partially defined and moderately complex tasks. Demonstrates good understanding and applies knowledge of an engineering discipline. Makes decisions in the areas of software requirements, architecture, design, implementation and test that impact the quality and performance of software subsystems and feature classes.

Provides independent leadership of smaller business impact projects or ownership of complex components, products, systems or services with greater elements of ambiguity over the senior or lead engineer level and with full accountability to the project team. Delivers independent execution of established and emerging work processes and systems, while still developing technology or product knowledge.

Leads the development and improvement of work processes and systems across a functional discipline area within a business unit site.

Model Based Development – Capable of designing moderately complex algorithms using model based methodologies(I.e. Matlab/Simulink). Understands the underlying principles, techniques, and procedures. Creates appropriate design documentation for review.

Leads the utilization of common troubleshooting tools and methodologies (7-step, iDFMEA, DOE, Issue trackers, Oscilloscopes, meters, etc..) to predict, capture, analyze, implement, and resolve design issues.

Additional Responsibilities:

Performs systems design/architecture for portions of a controls design. Including: development and maintenance of requirements; requirements allocation; architecture definition and review; definition of interfaces (API); system modeling and verification testing; and full design documentation and configuration management.

Leads technical coordination of product development activities. Interfaces with internal and external suppliers and development teams to ensure all technical content delivered meets customer deliverables. (Hardware / Software - BSP / Tools / HMIs / Connectivity / Cummins & Industry standards ).

Guides product teams (on-site & remote) on the correct application and operation of control designs and product requirements. Communicates regularly with design leads across project teams on status.

Leverages Autosar (i.e. PREEvision) and MathWorks (i.e. Matlab/Simulink) toolchain to create models used to produce software for Power Systems applications (Generators, Automatic Transfer Switches, PV/Inverters, and Power management/Switchgear systems)

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Computer/Software/ Electrical/ Mechatronics or related field) required.

Minimum Seven years of experience involving software development in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making.

Strong ability to leverage Autosar (i.e. PREEvision) and MathWorks (i.e. Matlab/Simulink) toolchain to create models used to produce software for Power Systems applications (Generators, Automatic Transfer Switches, PV/Inverters, and Power management/Switchgear systems)

Utilize common troubleshooting tools and methodologies like - 7-step, iDFMEA, DOE, Issue trackers, Oscilloscopes, meters, etc.. to predict, capture, analyze, implement, and resolve design issues.
