We are looking for a talented Design Drafter I to join our team specializing in ENGINEERING for our Power Systems Business Segment in Fridley, MN

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Key Responsibilities Create, modify and/or revise CAD models of complex components and assemblies or revise existing engineering/manufacturing drawings.

  • Receive Engineering Change request and incorporate the changes in the drawings.

  • Follow general work direction provided from Engineering Managers, Technical Project Leaders, Responsible Design Engineers, and more experienced Design Drafters

  • Accomplish assigned tasks and report specifics as needed Limited interaction with external customers and suppliers, Complete other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Mechanical Design Specification - Creates complete specifications in the form of solid models, configured engineering bill of materials and detailed drawings that cross-functionally communicate the information required to manufacture and inspect a product per its design intent; considers national, international, industry, and Cummins’ standards that accurately and concisely define the part specification.

  • Mechanical Design Modeling and Analysis - Creates Computer Aided Design models in accordance with Cummins' standards to represent architectural or product level system design concepts, and to enable completion of various system-level computer analyses such as Dimensional Variation Analysis and Finite Element Analysis.

  • Product Configuration and Change Management - Establishes a baseline of identified product artifacts to be placed under configuration management; releases, tracks, controls and communicates changes from concept to obsolescence often through work requests; establishes and maintains the integrity of the product artifact baselines.

  • Mechanical Design of Mechanical Systems - Acquires and applies an in-depth understanding of mechanical systems through working knowledge that guides a designer’s ability to create innovative and sound design concepts to meet Cummins and customer expectations; designs for requirements of all lifecycle stages by considering the customer requirements in different operating environments to ensure a robust system.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

  • High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

  • Must meet the minimum educational requirements to be ready to start a formal apprenticeship or training program.

  • Registration in a regionally certified apprenticeship learning or training program required.

  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience

  • CAD experience: Proficient in CREO/ProE (creating/modifying/revising drawings) , useful but not required.

  • Soll works experience is an acceptable alternative Basic knowledge of typical industry related Drafting Standards, Design Specifications, Engineering Standards.

  • Industry Standards and, Product Lifecycle Management Related Policies-Procedures.

  • Awareness of the principles, techniques and procedures related to the most common range of mechanical and/or electrical product design methodologies and processes most utilized by Cummins (harnesses, schematics, castings fabrication. machining, etc.).

  • Previous experience using principles, techniques, procedures and effective utilization of CAD Data Management.

  • Dand Wind chill Product Lifecycle Management Link (PDMLink)

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills (communicating to internal and external customers peers and stakeholders, etc.).

  • Understand Engineering Change request.

  • Previous experience within manufacturing and mechanical environment Interpret engineering drawings.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
