We are looking for an enthusiastic RePower Product Design Technical Specialist to join our Product Design team specialising in design practices and engineering principles which can be applied to the design, analysis and validation of engine component and sub-system development for both on and off highway products related to our Engine Business Unit in Darlington UK / Your remote home office. During your placement with us, you will learn how a major global organization operates, gaining the tools and exposure you will need to become an expert in the industry and power your potential!

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Lead component and engine sub-system design projects for On and Off highway market segments in support of current product and new engine development programs.

  • Work with internal and external partners and stakeholders to define and understand technical requirements to effectively communicate the capability of a design concept to meet those cross-functional requirements.

  • Navigate new, unique, or difficult technical challenges to deliver exceptional engine systems using your skills in design practices, engineering principles and systems engineering thinking.

  • Delivers independent execution of established and emerging work processes and systems, while still developing technology or product knowledge.

  • Leverage simulation-based product development tools and processes to provide reliable and cost effective product designs for engine hardware.

  • Growing technical knowledge in new areas.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Ability to clearly develop and deliver multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding technical information/issues/proposals with peers, management OEM partners.

  • Experience of solving product problems using a process that protects the customer; determines the assignable cause; implements robust, data-based solutions; and identifies the systemic root causes and recommended actions to prevent problem reoccurrence.

  • Experience to create complete specifications in the form of solid models, configured engineering bill of materials and detailed drawings that cross-functionally communicate the information required to manufacture and inspect a product per its design intent; considers national, international, industry, and Cummins’ standards that accurately and concisely define the part specification.

  • System engineering experience: Ability to translate between domains and be a ‘systems thinker’. Candidates who are highly skilled at translating observations made at various levels of integration into the impact at another level.

  • Degree educated within an Engineering or equivalent technical discipline.
