in Columbus, Indiana

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

  • Utilize the core competencies of thermal and fluid sciences to advance analytical and experimental approaches to answer key questions about the performance and architecture of a system or component.

  • Apply the Principles of Fluid Dynamics and Heat Transfer and the Principles of Thermodynamics and Energy Conversion Systems to interpret and predict the performance of fluid and thermal systems and energy conversion systems (IC engines, gas turbines, fuel cells, etc.) by leveraging a quantitative and intuitive comprehension of the flow of liquids and gases, the transfer of thermal energy between elements of a system, and the application of modeling and experimental tools, to answer key questions about the system or component.

  • Solve product problems using the 7 Step Process, perform root cause analysis, implement robust, data-based solutions, and recommend actions to prevent problem reoccurrence.

  • Utilize extensive experience with System Requirements Engineering to translate stakeholder needs into verifiable requirements to which designs are developed, establish acceptance criteria for the system of interest through analysis, allocation, and negotiations, and track the status of requirements throughout the system lifecycle.

  • Assess the impact of changes to system requirements on project scope, schedule, and resources, and create and maintain information linkages to related artifacts.

  • Lead Product Failure Mode Avoidance by identifying interfaces, functions, functional requirements, interactions, control factors, noise factors, and prioritized potential failure modes and potential failure cases for the system of interest to effectively and efficiently improve the reliability of company products.

  • Define the system of interest by drawing the boundaries and identifying its context within its environment, analyze linkages and interactions between elements that comprise the system, predict the system’s behavior, and devise modifications to it in order to produce the desired effects.

  • Drive decisions and create technical content which leads to state of the art, highly effective, environmentally friendly, and competitive products.

Required Education, Licenses or Certifications

  • Positions require a Master’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, or Chemical Engineering, or related field and 2 years of experience as a Thermal and Fluid Science, Mechanical, Materials, or CPE Engineer, or related position.

  • Alternatively, the employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, or Chemical Engineering, or related field and 5 years of experience as a Thermal and Fluid Science, Mechanical, Materials, or CPE Engineer, or related position.

JOB SITE: Columbus, Indiana

WORK HOURS: 40 hours/week - 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Compensation and Benefits

Base hourly rate commensurate with experience plus bonus.
