This is an exciting opportunity in Columbus, IN for a PEM Fuel Cell Stack Development & Integration Expert. Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading engineering & research Technology projects such as New Product Development, Value Package Introduction and Systems Product Validation.

Experience

Prior Technical Specialist/Specialist Engineering equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving, quality decision making and providing technical direction and leadership to a project team(s). Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the evaluation of different PEM fuel cell stack technologies for performance, reliability and durability in Cummins applications using analytical and experimental approaches

  • Establish strong technical relationship with different technology and materials providers in the PEM fuel cell industry

  • Build dynamic models of fuel cell stacks in collaboration with technology partners/National labs/ universities

  • Develop key requirements for different components in the fuel cell stack to meet system requirements

  • Benchmark best practices for stack development and assembly

  • Support development of Cummins strategy PEM fuel cell stacks

  • Support the development of experimental lab capabilities for fuel stack testing

  • Prepare, document, and maintain test stations, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems to support testing initiatives

  • Collect, reduce and analyze data, document and present findings; Write test reports and present findings to internal stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in relevant Engineering field; PhD preferred

  • 7 years of experience in PEM fuel cell stack design, development and testing (“Hands on experience” is a must); 10 years of experience is preferred

  • Solid grounding in engineering fundamentals: electrochemistry, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat & mass transfer, chemical kinetics, and materials

  • Experienced in working with test equipment, including fuel cell test stations, analytical instruments, and electrochemical diagnostics (cyclic voltammetry, impedance spectroscopy, hydrogen pump)

  • Demonstrated ability and high level of interest in planning tests, conducting experiments, and analyzing data

  • Ability to work in a start up like environment within the boundaries of a global corporation

Education, Licenses, Certifications

College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines is required. Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.

Salary commensurate with experience plus bonus.
