Off Highway Controls Engineer
We are looking for a talented Off Highway Controls Senior Engineer to join our team specializing in Engineering for our Engine Business Unit in Columbus, IN. The role involves development, integration, and support of electronic controls solutions for off highway diesel products. It engages with customers to understand and define requirements and works collaboratively to validate and deliver solutions in a wide variety of applications in construction, agricultural, forestry, power generation, and marine markets.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Configure (tune), integrate, test, and release software, electronic control units, tools, sensors, actuators, and harnesses into an electronic system that controls the operation of Cummins’ products in a variety of customer applications.
Investigate electronic application and systems problems, understand causal mechanisms, recommend appropriate action, own problem resolution and document results with guidance from more experienced team members.
Apply and support the improvement of electronic application and systems development processes and tools. Processes include system specification, modeling and simulation, calibration, Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R), and troubleshooting. Tools include Simulink, calibration tools, and PTC Integrity.
Obtain input and negotiate with product and software development teams and deliver control system designs, verified and calibrated software features and builds to product teams.
Contributes effectively toward team goals, exhibits influence within a work group and continues to develop proficiency in the competency areas critical to success in the role.
To be successful in this role you will need the following:
College, university, or equivalent bachelor’s degree in Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines is required.
Minimum 1 year engineering equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required. Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred.

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
