This is an exciting opportunity in Columbus, Indiana for a Functional Safety - Technical Advisor. Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading projects.
In the role you will:
Lead and advise on who develops and maintains cross platform Electronic/Engineering Tools in support of world-wide Cummins and delivery partners for electronic products across all business units for functional safety. Electronic Tool products include software components, utilities, applications and software systems. Electronic products include generator sets, engines, components, business systems and other systems.
You will analyze impact of ISO26262 releases for Cummins Electronic tools and create Functional Safety awareness across the department.
Perform safety management activities for Active Safety according to relevant standards during all project phases (concept, product development, production) including preliminary hazard analysis, iDFMEA, FMEDA, qualitative and quantitative fault tree analysis.
Develop safety architectures and safety plans to ensure compliance with ISO26262.
Lead and coordinate creation of functional safety documentation according to ISO 26262.
Cascade safety requirements to the systems, subsystems, and component levels in product portfolio. Specify detailed safety requirements, including diagnostic and software requirements.
Collaborate with project managers, development team and customers on Functional Safety.
Conduct reviews with product teams to ensure functional safety standards are being met throughout product development cycles.
Skills & Experience Required:
Experience with System engineering including requirements management, boundary diagrams, FMEA, change management
Software product engineering and software life cycle
Software configuration management practices, methods and tools such PTC Integrity
Must have good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
Ability to effectively work as part of a global team
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks to meet deadlines
Strong problem solving and troubleshooting abilities
Self-motivated and able to perform with minimal supervision
Preferred Certified with ISO 26262 and expert with all the software and tools requirements of ISO 26262.
Programming Languages - C , Objective C, JAVA
Operating systems – Android/iOS/. Some experience in Windows/Unix OS
Database systems and concepts - Oracle/MySQL/ similar
Network protocols - HTTP/SFTP/CAN/SAE J1939/TCP-IP
Good knowledge on C /JAVA/iOS/Android SDK
Education, Licenses, Certifications
College, university, or equivalent degree in Engineering or related field required.

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
