This is an exciting opportunity in Columbus, IN for a Software Advanced Development Architect role. Cummins USA is where you can work on industry leading engineering projects such as Advanced Development of embedded software.
Your impact will happen in these and other ways:
Lead complex Advanced Development projects related to Base Software in the areas of software architecture design, abstract specification and interface design, component design, data structure design, and algorithm design.
Estimate complexity of software development for new Advanced Development projects based on requirements and proposed reference architectures.
Define and/or optimize AUTOSAR based SW Architectures in a multicore environment for throughput, memory footprint and scalability.
Establish Software Architecture Guidelines for BSW layer software development.
Participate in AUTOSAR tools supplier evaluations.
Support the decomposition and allocation of system requirements.
Support the development of system architectures and electronics architectures.
Establish and maintain a working knowledge of AUTOSAR standards and Automotive Product Development Process knowledge (ASpice, ISO26262).
Responsible for coaching and developing the next generation of technical experts.
Provides problem resolution leadership for complex systems with a high degree of ambiguity and global business impact.
Coordinates and directs work of technical project teams, up to and including direct management of small to mid-sized teams.
Operates as the recognized specialist in embedded Base Software across global business units with responsibility for developing local talent (direct or indirect).
Includes academic and/or industry collaboration.
Education, Licenses, Certifications
College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Computer Science or other relevant technical disciplines is required. Master’s degree strongly preferred.
Prior Technical Specialist/Specialist Engineering equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving, quality decision making and providing technical direction and leadership to a project team(s).
Minimum 10 years of embedded software development in automotive or related industries.
Minimum 3 years of experience with AUTOSAR architecture, concepts, specifications, tools, and production implementation.
Strong practical automotive 32-bit multicore microcontroller architecture knowledge through experience in at least one of microcontroller architectures: Renesas RH family, Infineon Tricore or NXP PowerPC architecture.
Experience with embedded multicore: developing architecture from scratch, defining logical blocks, boundaries, execution rates, scheduling, interfaces and data types, allocation of the logical blocks to multicore processor architecture, allocation of requirements to logical blocks, integration and verification of the architecture.
Experience with developing control algorithms for several aspects of electronic control systems; including engine, aftertreatment, transmission, machine, power systems and/or power electronics.
Experience in RTE generation, make environments, multi-party SW integration, and factory-test SW.
Understanding of software/hardware design and their failure modes.
Understanding of engineering theory and operation principles of mechanical/electrical mechanisms.

Base salary rate commensurate with experience.
