Qualifications

This is an exciting opportunity for Electronic Controls – Group Leaders - #IN732 in Columbus, Indiana

Your impact will happen in these and other ways:

  • Manage activities to ensure identification and resolution of sensor-related component, system, and application problems prior to Value Package Introduction (VPI).

  • Utilize Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Methodologies to develop the specifications for electronic systems and components and serve as group leader on engineering projects and work assignments.

  • Lead sensor problem-solving activities in VPI and cross-functional reviews. Perform Project Management by providing timely communication updates to stakeholders regarding sensor development status and improvement activities.

  • Perform bench, test cell and vehicle testing, and analyze the behavior of field test and test cell data utilizing data analysis tools including Excel, MATLAB and Minitab.

  • Resolve failures identified in design verification and product validation using 7 Step Problem Solving Process and Fault Tree Analysis.

  • Document Technical Profile and create Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R) for performance, reliability, and durability testing based on experience with component design and performance requirements.

  • Utilize specialized knowledge of Digital Circuit Design in order to understand, specify, analyze and design digital electronic circuits and devices.

  • Repair, service, and select connectors with appropriate sub-components and recommend the proper connector systems or cable type for specific applications as part of Harness and Interconnect Design.

  • Utilize extensive knowledge of electrical/electronic design and sensor technology to inspect and troubleshoot problem reports and change requests.

  • Apply diagnostics for component health and for monitoring engine and subsystem performance, troubleshoot diagnostic problems, and calibrate algorithms using tuning guides.

  • Specify and manipulate the characteristics of an electrical system with the goal of providing a system that will not be damaged or exhibit unacceptable performance during normal operations and potential failure modes.

  • Utilize Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) methodology to identify and address potential sensor problems or failures, and their resulting effects on the system. Tune, verify, validate, and troubleshoot controls, hardware and software.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Data analysis tools including Excel, MATLAB and Minitab

  • Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R)

  • Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) Methodologies

  • 7 Step Problem Solving Process and Fault Tree Analysis

  • Troubleshoot diagnostic problems

Required Education, Licenses or Certifications

  • Position requires a master’s degree Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field and 2 years of experience as an Electronic, Controls, or Systems Engineer, or related position.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field and 5 years of experience as an Electronic, Controls, or Systems Engineer, or related position.

JOB SITE: Columbus, Indiana

WORK HOURS: 40 hours/week - 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Compensation and Benefits

Base hourly rate commensurate with experience plus bonus.
