This is an exciting opportunity in Columbus, IN for a Diagnostic Controls Technical Specialist.

Responsibilities

  • Applies technical expertise on complex components or projects with minimal supervision. Leads small projects or portions of large projects.

  • Provides technical direction for a project or a project team.

  • Participates as a key contributor and is accountable for project success.

  • Influences at department or program management level.

  • Provides input on program-related decisions. Proposes innovative initiatives and projects.

  • Demonstrates depth of knowledge of engineering discipline(s) and leverages expertise on other projects.

  • Troubleshoots complex problems and recommends appropriate actions.

  • Assists with the transfer of knowledge; coaches and mentors less experienced engineers.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines is required.

Experience

Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience (4 plus years) in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making. Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred

  • Provide expertise and guidance to EBU and functional teams who are developing critical engine/aftertreatment and other propulsion systems diagnostic algorithms.

  • Support spans the entire diagnostic development life cycle which includes, but is not limited to diagnostic control system requirements definition, development, calibration, capability, robustness, validation, certification, service and in-use activities. Be an expert on diagnostic control systems.

  • Responsible for creating and defining processes, training, tools and metrics for diagnostic control systems.

  • Identify critical issues and opportunities by monitoring EBU and functional team performance trends. key contributor to recommend solutions and recommend implementation of the solutions

  • Apply system engineering concepts to identify and champion common approach improvements to development efficiency, product quality, repeatability, reliability and product costs.

  • Interact with Cummins leadership providing regular reviews and communications.

  • Support interactions with regulatory representatives. Your interactions will include communication of current design/process compliance as well as negotiations of future regulatory language.

Salary commensurate with experience plus bonus.
